POTTING MIXES

1. Fruit Trees

1 part soil 3 parts pine sawdust (to age pine put 2.5 kgs urea to cubic metre of sawdust, wet it and cover with plastic for at least 3 weeks.)
3 parts ash or coarse sand
1 handful lime
1 small handful blood and bone
1 small handful super

This mix can vary if you like. For example sand, bark, peanut shells, rice hulls, cocoa husks, peat, sphagnum moss, vermiculite, perlite and crushed scoria rock.

2. Seedlings. Vegetables and Ornamentals

4 gallons peat (x)
4 gallons vermiculite (x)
30 gms 55 or Q5
100 gms dolomite
40 gms blood and bone
100 gms super (single crushed)
7 gms iron sulphate
7 gms mixed trace elements
7 gms dried crushed seaweed

Place dry ingredients (x) in wheelbarrow and mix.

Then separately mix with water the other ingredients in mixmaster.

Put wet ingredients in with the dry and mix well.
