Cut cumquats into quarters and remove the seeds.
Put the cumquats in one container and just cover with water. Put the seeds in a dish and cover with water.
Next morning, place seeds in a piece of fine netting, tie it securely and put in with the fruit.
Bring to boil and simmer for ½ hour or until fruit skin is tender. Remove the bag of seeds.
To each cup of jam, add 1 cup of sugar and bring to boil again and simmer for twenty minutes; after which time, test for jellying potential.
