2 lbs fruit (any mix is OK)
6 cups water
2 cups sugar

Combine dried or fresh fruit and water in a large pan. Bring to a boil. Cover and simmer 30 minutes.

Stir in sugar thoroughly. Cover and simmer 30 minutes longer, stirring occasionally. The fruit should be cooked and stirred until it is soft and broken.

Place in blender and puree fruit and juices. Let the fruit cool before blending to avoid steam burns. Store in covered jars in the refrigerator. Use the butter as a filling for cookies and muffins or spread on toast.
